Compared to the US there seems to be little regards for these men and women. I don't agree with the war, but believe these men and women deserve better. Today I came across this story. It appears this hotel has a policy against allowing soldiers
Ive just read that story....what an absoulte insulte to a hero of our armed forces....weather u agree with the war or not, these men and women are the ones fighting wars so pig headed people like this HAVE THE FREEDOM to show disrespect like this in the 1st place. As much as everyone takes the micky out of the USA, you cant fault them in showing there support for the Armed forces. Its a shame our socity has come to this, years ago, the Monarch would build a huge statly home for the victorious leaders of wars and pay handsomly the serving soliders, We should ALL be out on the streets welcoming these men and women home, I am in the process of joing the Household Cav, and this story makes me think is it all worth it, I wonder if this Faulty Towers hotel would refuse entry to a WW2 hero??? Shame on them!!!!
This is another story only last month I remember reading about it what pissed me off was the conductor saying "It's not as if you've taken a bullet or anything."
Wow..!! These stories reminded me of how US treated their soldiers after the Vietnam War. My co-worker whose husband served in the Vietnam War told me that the soldiers were treated like pariahs when they came home, people would spit on them when they walked by, called them names to their faces, etc... I guess the US has learned since then, that you can disagree with the war, but the soldiers are just following their orders and should not be blamed for doing what they're told to do.

I remember that one and there have been others. I understand they yet have to give a reason why they had that policy in place. Hope their business suffer after this.

Yea I dont think they ever did give a reason just lame excuses it would be good if the business did suffer even more the conducter getting the sack.
Please, please, not all of us in the US are militaristic. Unfortunately, as seen in the previous threads too many people all around the world still buy into the same old mythology. Was anyone really listening to Buffy Ste Marie (an American Indian) when she wrote The Universal Soldier:
Hmmm. Well, basically, Britain just is not a jingoistic or militaristic country, and the US is.
And your point is? I'm not a war monger but I do appreciate that there are men and women willing to put their lives on the line for their country. Yes Eutopia sounds nice but let's face it, we will not be there any time soon. What is the point of denying someone serving in the armed forces a night stay in a hotel or a discount fare?
