Philly must have over 120 cranes in the sky. I need to take a trip up there soon.

No. DC has more. I didn't mean 80 projects 6 stories or more. 6 or more there are probably about 50-60. In the planning stages there are more.
Here is all buildings taller than 8 under construction/ about to begin: there is 34 projects. Over 6 floors i can think of AT LEAST 10 more, but they are hard to keep track of because they are all over the city. If you count all of the buildings that are 2,3,4 and 5 stories high like rowhomes and such throughout the city, there are EASILY 200+ buildings under construction currently in Philadelphia. Alot of South Philadelphia and Most of Lower North Philadelphia is a construction zone.
Everything taller than 8 floors I can list:
W Hotel: 58 floors, over 600 feet- construction starting in spring
Cira Center South Office Tower: over 450 feet- approved
Renaissance Plaza (residential): 4 towers- two 426 feet, two 227 feet- proposed
2116 Chestnut (residential): 34 floors, ~390 feet- under construction

Morgan Hall (residential): 27 floors, 312 feet- under construction

CHOP Ambulatory Care Center (medical): 14 floors- 292 feet- construction
38th and Chestnut (residential): 25 floors, 278 feet- approved

Of course, that's not including any of the rumors or plans not far along, like Museum Towers Phase 2, new rumors on Trump Tower, all Drexel, CHOP, Temple and UPenn has planned, 1601 Vine, several other new large developments, or anything shorter than 8 floors or any of the at least 200+ rowhomes under construction
