My family is looking to relocate for my husband's job from NH to UT. I am a New England native and my husband is from New Mexico (totally different cultures). Anyway, his company is in Taylorsville. We are not looking to live in Taylorsville, and he is okay with up to a 40 min commute. We are looking for help finding a city that has great Catholic schools, we are conservative (but open-minded and friendly with anyone and everyone), don't necessarily need the big city features, but would be nice to be able to drive into town once in awhile. I have honestly read reviews all over the map. From Draper and Sandy, to Ogden. I'm not as worried about my kids making friends in the neighborhood as long as they can make friends at their school.

Here’s a link with info about Catholic schools in the area.
https://dioslc.org/schools

Most are in the Salt Lake Valley. A few further out but those would be pushing or exceeding your 40 minute commute limit. There are several elementary/middle school options but only three high schools, so the age of your kids will be a factor.

Taylorsville is in the central part of the Salt Lake Valley so commute would be under 40 minutes from anywhere in the valley. Ogden is a ways north and might be doable in 40 minutes with no traffic but probably quite a bit more during normal commuting time.

What type of home, neighborhood, budget, etc. are you looking for? There are lots of contributors on here with good info and opinions, but those things would really help to give you more specific suggestions.

Unless the traffic is exceptionally heavy (like during rush hours), it's possible to drive pretty much from one end of the city to the other in 40 minutes. Most commutes are more like 25 minutes. I live in Cottonwood Heights, and that's the case for me. I understand that Juan Diego has an excellent reputation. You might want to consider Cottonwood Heights. It's as diverse as any place in the area (excluding some of the more inner-city neighborhoods) and very welcoming to newcomers. I hope you like it here. It will be a pretty significant change from New Hampshire, but if you approach the move with a positive frame of mind, you should do just fine, as will your kids (even if they were to attend public schools).

We would be renting at first, and looking meanwhile. We will be in the 450k budget range. My kids are babies, 3 & 18 months so they would have a while before we have to worry about high school. Do you know much about Kaysville?

I am pretty excited to move, I know it's beautiful there so thats a huge plus. Not a ton of scenery where I live in NH (not that there isn't beautiful parts of the state). We have lived in VA and AZ, so we are used to moving to completely different places, but I love it.

I'm leaning more towards Salt Lake County. Any areas that I should strike off my list immediately? It's so hard to narrow down cities/towns when you don't know enough about them! lol.

Are you planning to rent or buy? And what would your budget be? Those are a couple of things we really know to be able to help you further.

Juan Diego and sandy / cottonwood would be a good fit for you but you will need a healthy budget. Coming from the NE that shouldn’t be a problem.
