Weather comparisons (Ogden: live, moving to, stations)

A great place for people to look up weather comparisons between the area you live now to the area you may be moving to is... (3Ws)weather.(com). You can look up the monthly averages. At the top of the page in the box for - "Check your weather", put the city and state that you're looking to move to. At next page, click on link for "monthly averages".

That gives you a VERY HELPFUL chart. I check the choices for "average highs" and "average lows". You can then print that out, and then print out one for your current local area to have side-by-side comparisons. Hope that helps many. Sure helped my family.

Go to city-data.com and find the city you are interested in, then scroll towards the bottom. For instance, here is Ogden: https://www.city-data.com/city/Ogden-Utah.html.

I am not a huge fan of the original weather site given in the first post. Nearly most of the time they are highly incorrect for our area, I always rely on the local stations for knowing what's going on in our region.

I would second that statement. Both weather-dot-com and weather underground seem to always get it wrong, until the day before.

Funny enough, the national weather that is shown on CNN and other networks is sometimes more accurate than either local channels or internet sites 5-7 days out.

It must be a tough area to forecast.

Here's a secret to really know what the meteorologists think. Go to weather underground and at the bottom of the forecast click on "scientific forecaster discussion -- NWS"

That's straight from the National Weather Service. It's a bit technical, but you can get all sorts of insight. For example, sometimes they are predicting a 50 percent chance of precip, but you can read their confidence is low. Or you can read that they will probably up the chances during the next shift because the storm's looking stronger than they thought etc.

I was especially using those websites listed in the beginning posts for the 'historical averages' just for general comparison. So, they did help a lot with that.

I like the Weather Channel Desktop. It's a free download from www.weather.com that displays local weather and alerts. I'm not in Utah yet, but I've been monitoring the weather there and so far the alerts for severe weather have been very accurate. I was able to verify the severe weather by checking the Utah tv and newspaper reports online. One time there was a high wind warning along hwy 80 and the next day the local paper had a photo online of a blown over Walmart truck!
