I'm not familiar with Vancouver neighborhoods, but if this is in the east end of the city, heroin addiction is likely the root of the problem there. It may be a good idea to consider moving to a more desirable neighborhood with less junk and the human garbage that comes with it.
Kensington/Cedar Cottage is around Knight Street and 33rd Avenue, I think. So it is in the middle of the city. Not the whole east end is full of addicts, just the 10 block square area east of downtown.
Suck it up, it should be legal. It isn't hurting you at all. At least they are working for their money instead of begging people to hand them everything for free. i would not like to make friends with anyone who kills and eats cats or dogs, because they are intelligent and affectionate creatures. but eating habits are not as important, it's more the strange traditions and beliefs. also a lot of the asians exclusively are friends with other asians. i'm talking mainly about the ones who immigrated here and did not 'americanize', learn the language well, etc. we have like nothing in common

Yeah but, don't you think legalizing it would make it a more attractive career for women to enter into, and thus make it more common? If it was legalized, I'm sure there'd be hookers on every street corner, selling their holes for dope. I say, keep it banned, which encourages women to look to other avenues, develop their skills and knowledge, into what could be lifelong careers...as opposed to selling their holes till their forties or so, when they get way old and ugly for the job (especially if they do drugs). Then what are they supposed to do.
Um, prostitution is already legal in many places all over the world, including Australia. Legalising it has not caused millions upon millions of Australian women to become prostitutes. That is absurd fearmongering. Most women will never enter the sex industry for numerous reasons.
And sorry, but adult women have the right to have sex with as many men as they like, unpaid or not. It's dumb for something to be legal to giveaway for free but illegal to sell. If a woman has sex with 100 men she meets from bars, nightclubs, parties or Craigslist, she faces zero legal consequences, but if that same woman has sex with 100 men for $700 each, suddenly she deserves to go to jail?

It's legal or decriminalised in Australia. Only a small percentage of all Australians will become prostitutes. It is definitely not "rampant".

Anyway, how does it make sense to prosecute prostitutes for safety issues but it's legal for a woman to meet up with random men on craigslist for unprotected sex? I think $800/hour escorts are having sex sex and more protected sex than your average party girl.
Streetwalkers rarely if ever use condoms. Yes, streetwalking is degrading and dangerous but not all prostitutes are streetwalkers.
