Just saw this clip on the Ventura County Star. Thought is was cool that they are using bikes. I didn't know if they had in the past of if this is a new thing. I know that both Oxnard and Ventura have used officers on bikes. I even remember reading about a drug bust that went down about a decade ago in Colonia because the drug dealer and buyer thought that the two cops were Mormon missionaries. What ever works to make the streets safer.

Anyway kudos to Thousand Oaks for not only saving money on gas, LOL but also for using the bikes and getting out there. Looks from the pictures that it is easier to interact with the public when you are on bikes.

Interesting story about the drug bust....wow...that's crazy but at least it got some scum off the streets. I agree, the bikes do make the officers more accessible to the general public which is a good thing.

I own Exxon, Texaco, and Shell stock.

I am against this ridiculous idea of cops on bikes.

T.O. has had bike cops for some time now. Usually they heckle skateboarders.

In that case, we'd like to talk to you about these INSANE gas prices! By the way, do you offer coupons? We have a very large Suburban that needs to be filled! LOL!

Tongue firmly in cheek! I'm glad they're on bikes. Maybe they'll be impressed with what a meat-grinder T.O. Blvd. can be for cyclists. I used to bike commute along that stretch between my job in WLV and the T.O. Transit Center. For an official bicycle route, it's pretty unaccommodating to, well, bicycles.

The bike cops 's present were added because of complaints about a new breed of bicyclist roaming TO Blvd from their home to work. They ride on the side walk, they ride on the wrong side of the road, they dont have light at night or red light in the back. Whenever I leave 24hr Fitness at night I'm always afraid i'm going to kill some one who is coming back from their job somewhere. I can go on and on but I'm not because I don't want to sound like a tool from the comment section of the Ventura County Star.
