does anyone know how long it would take to drive on an average from Ventura to Downtown LA. I may have found a great deal on a foreclosure but the only thing is the commute.

You're going to need a helicopter or a private rail road.

It is about seventy miles. If you could work something like 6-230 or 630-3 then it would be a little over an hour. Coming home probably 1.5 hours. Even so, seventy miles is seventy miles. Long time without a potty at that hour. Also think about gasoline costs.

You could take the train. Metrolink trains take about 1 hour and 50 minutes each way from VTU to Union Station.

I believe the Surfliner, the one passenger, not freight, train that goes from downtown L.A. to Ventura and beyond, only has two daytime runs, which may or may not correspond with the poster's business day needs. Someone please correct me and help the original poster if I'm wrong: I'm basing this on picking up my brother at a Valley stop betwixt the two on the only rail line extant, at the only two times he said the line ran.

That's not correct. The Metrolink Ventura line runs to Oxnard (right next to Ventura) 3-4 trains in the morning and 3-4 at night. The Amtrak is also an option as it runs on the same track a little later than the metrolink.

Check out the link.
