Hello all,

I'll be moving to ventura county in the next several months and will be working at the naval base in Point Mugu. I'm interested in living close to the beaches and was wondering if anyone could recommend some areas around the aforementioned areas that I should concentrate in looking into. I'm a 29 year old single male and will be looking to rent a 1br apartment. I probably won't be able to visit the area before having to move. Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

Point mugu is a little further south and closer to Camarillo....but Ventura would be better for a single guy (downtown or midtownish) Thousand Oaks is ok...Malibu might be fun if you can afford it.

Some of the beach houses have nice rents in Channel Islands Harbor but not a ton of nightlife or singles there. I'd go for Ventura despite the longer commute

Thanks for the reply! I think I'd be working out of naval base ventura county. Do you happen to know what the traffic is like commuting from ventura to the base?

Not a terrible drive, especially once you get through Oxnard.

btw, there is no "y" in Hueneme.

Most important question: Are you a surfer?

Don't think there is anything in Ventura County as far as clubs, you'll have to go to LA.

I recommend the Avalon club! Also, if you go on meetup.com, they have a ravegroup in LA, welcoming new people.
