My family and I are considering buying a property in Craftsbury, Vermont.

Years ago (nearly 20) we spent a lot of time in Central Vermont (Rutland, Castleton, Middlebury, etc) and we also spent about a year in Burlington. We love Vermont, and feel very at home there.

While we traveled the state extensively during those years, we never spent too much time in the Northeast Kingdom, nor in the area between Stowe and Lake Willoughby where Craftsbury resides.

We wonder about common things that people wonder about;

Where is the closest hospital in case of an emergency?

Is Morristown really the closest "shopping area?"

What is the drive like between Burlington International Airport and the Craftsbury area?

Is it a "year round" community, or is it largely a seasonal community?

Effectively, we're trying to learn from locals what the area is really like? If we were intent on spending half a year there every year (from May 1st to November 1st), what should we know and what could we expect?

We're looking for quiet, private, beautiful, and simple. We like biking, running, hiking, and kayaking.
