Is 8 Too Young for Guitar Hero Or Rock Band? (Wii)

Hi,
I've got an 8 year old son with visions of being a rock star. (He just started real guitar lessons).

Is 8 too young to enjoy either Guitar Hero or Rock Band? If so, which one?

We have a Wii and a PS2.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are pretty similar in style, design, and gameplay. We've got them both, so if my 4-year old can enjoy them, I'd think your 8 year old should be able to as well.
