Only because of attitudes like yours. If you (and everyone else) votes their conscious and beliefs, then third party candidates would actually be viable. I'll happily vote for "my best candidate" rather than regretting voting for "the lessor of two evils." You complain about the choices, but don't do anything to change it for the future.

Glad to see others are feeling the same way. I think this was a movie once... " Dumb and Dumber"! For the first time in my life, leaning towards the third candidate...

sorry, but thats very naive!

its your attitude that gave us Bush instead of Gore (many people voting for Nader even though he had no chance of winning). now if you like Bush, then you see no problem, for me it was a nightmare and we suffered through a horrendous eight years because of it...

I vote for what I believe in, not who I think will win.

Wrong. Bush did not win because many people voted for Ralph Nader. Bush won because the Supreme Court ruled he had enough votes in Florida to win the state and win the state's electoral college votes. While Nader did receive about 3% of the Florida vote (presumably those who would have voted for Gore), 12% of registered Democrats voted for Bush. If only a small portion of them voted with their party lines, Gore would have won.

That being said I will continue to encourage people to vote their conscience (presumably what those Democrats voting for Bush did). As more and more people do, the chances improve to make way for a multiparty system.

(for the record, I definitely voted in 2000......but not for Gore, Nader, or Bush.)

sorry, but i find your reasoning incredibly naive and approaching apathetic.

if Nader would not have ran, Gore would have outright won the election by enough to guarantee it wouldn't have been stolen.

so you continue to vote 100% idealistically and 0% pragmatically and see what that gets you...

McAuliffe comes across as a very likable guy in my opinion, similar to Warner. I believe the combination of a wealthy NoVa businessman along with a "good ol boy" image that will win votes in the more rural areas will be a strong plus for McAuliffe. He has spent a lot of time recently in the western part of the state which is traditionally republican turf and so far I don't see any huge support for Ken Cuccinelli. Terry has a great chance of being the next Governor in my opinion.

i doubt it, unless you're unaware and/or don't care what the repercussions of your voting behavior is and can be (Bush being elected is a prime example)...

Roanoker4 proves that everything depends upon your perspective. He sees a likable, "good ol boy" in McAuliffe and I see a slimey, corporate capitalist. Oh well.

Personally, I would have preferred Bill Bolling as the nominee and I'm not sold on Cuccinelli. I seriously looked at Sarvis' web site the other day and he seems to have some very good stances.

It's a tough decision this time but adults are supposed to read a variety of news sources and learn the platforms of those candidates.

P.S. I once had a friend gush about how "nice" and "cute" John Edwards was and she just "loved" his wife. They were just such a "beautiful" couple so she voted for him in the primary. The image presented publically can frequently be very false especially with a media willing to promote that image. All the mainstream media were on those campaign buses and planes and knew well of Rielle Hunter . . .
