Thought I would open another, more descriptive thread. We don't have to be near Richmond. Looking for anywhere that's in the county or out in the country, somewhat. Looking to rent for one to two years so we can save to custom build. We have three very young children and so we need somewhere very safe, good elementary school, and yet under $800/month in rent.

Must avoid Martinsville, Danville, Ridgeway, Chatham, and Cascade.

Thank you all for your help. I've been checking Zillow but can anyone recommend any other websites for searching?

My last agent, also a broker, hated Zillow with a passion and kept saying how unreliable it is. She had us using MRIS.com. Had to register I believe but she said it was much more accurate.

Hmm....just completed the selling and buying process and Zillow proved invaluable and my agent, also a broker, was totally on board with them.

I think her biggest problem was with the lag time in updating listings. She showed us several on Zillow that had sold but were still showing for sale on Zillow. Never had an issue with MRIS but glad it worked for you.

Yes, Zillow often gives incorrect addresses where we are looking. I checked MRIS.com and you have to be an agent to register, plus pay a quarterly fee. How were you able to register? I sent them an email and they replied saying they do not know me because I am not a registered agent with them.

Are there better listing sites than Zillow?
