My family lives in Spotsylvania County. I've lived here my entire life and my husband moved here from a small place called Watertown, NY. I've recently started commuting to Alexandria for work and know that I will be with this particular company for the long haul. At first the commute was okay, but it seems to be getting harder and harder with my husband often working until 9 (yucky car salesman) and me having to do the 2 hour drive to Fredericksburg, another 1 hour to the sitters and home, and find time to make dinner, do some laundry, give the baby a bath, make lunches, etc. We are looking to move but my husband works in Fredericksburg. We're looking for something in the middle of Spotsy and Alexandria, and have been doing some research on Woodbridge. I too, have heard horrific stories. I've heard nothing but positive things about Lake Ridge though. We're just looking to rent for now, until we get to know the area and feel more comfortable in knowing where to buy. Is Lake Ridge a family friendly area? How long would the commute be to Alexandria, and how long south to Fredericksburg? Are there any other areas we should consider?
