I agree what happen???? We used to be in the top 3.....now in were in the top 10...........overall moco schools are still better than alotttt of states.......im just happy were still on that top 10 list and we will continue to be.....i guess just not at number 1

All schools were better than you think until the federal government trashed them. Head start, no child left behind and other government mandated programs has put schools on the same mediocre level. Does it mean it works? No.
Something else to factor in is Fairfax went through a growth spurt in the 80s-90s that MOCO enjoyed back in the 60s-70s so that county needed to ramp up its schools. They surpassed MOCO in doing so. MOCO is about full whereas Fairfax is still growing so the schools keep improving. Things change. I remember when Fairfax City was a traffic circle on Rt 50 just a short drive from the beltway. I wouldn't recognize the place if I drove through there now.
