It's not the "end" of the suburbs, but a transition - Greater Greater Washington

I like the look of those roof deck properties. I like the location and area.

I'm just terrified young couples will be priced out right out the gate--I mean I saw $700,000 as a quote in that article, so doesn't look very promising.

Will there be anything at 250-400K (small townhomes or larger condos) on or before 2016? Or will some properties be rentals?

You can find those same type homes in Arts District Hyattsville for around $300k - $400k.

That Hyattsville community actually looks pretty outstanding. Thanks for highlighting this, and it's something I may consider in 2-3 years (just can't buy right now).

The only caveat would be the typical "schools" problem (which I've never investigated further) but as I don't have kids now that's a bridge to cross later.

I saw that article. It makes sense. DC proper is way too small for constant growth. It will soon be up to the suburbs to absorb that growth and still give people that will eventually be priced out off DC proper (see Manhattan) a feeling that they are connected to an urban area.

There really are special types of idiots who pay $700K for a townhouse in Gaithersburg, imagine that. The most interesting thing I've never seen an article about is the people who are leaving DC, like Im 31 and of my group of 10 best friends in HS, I am the only one still here from high school. People who grew up here hate it and leave, you never see that covered.

Yo, "North Potomac"! That potomac name alone probably adds two or three hundred grand to the town home.

But yea, I was shocked to see that $700K when I read the article.

Is the premium for being able to walk to the restaurants?
