Waldorf is a good hub for big-box shopping. Commuting is awful during regular rush hours. Charles Co needs train service, since 1000s of people are moving down here. There are nice subdivisions (although for me, that's an oxymoron.)

It's true that little by little Waldorf is developing its wooded acres. But this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Developing in-town is much preferable than paving new swatches of farm and forest land. Alas, homeowners, if you don't own the forest acres behind you, you take the risk that they'll be built on, especially in this growing area. After all, if it was your woods, and you could make a buck building on it, would you be altruistic?

A lot of people been saying this since the 2000's. Been living down here all my life and seen growth in Waldorf and our next door community near the border at Brandywine Crossing shopping center area right off 301.

There was a another proposal a year or two ago for a light rail project I believed it was called SMRT, or Southern Maryland Rapid Transit. First proposed in the 1990s, would stretch from Branch Avenue at the southern end of metro green line in Prince George’s County to White Plains in Charles County with thirteen stops along the way, including stations at Joint Base Andrews and the Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

I think state politics played a roll for many years for not allowing the SMRT plan to happen. But they approved the purple line for Montgomery to Northern PG Counties though.

It's not so old. It's dated 3 weeks ago.

It mentions that legislation was introduced 1 year ago. Delegate Arthur Ellis has only been in office for 2 years. It mentions the completion date of the Harry Nice Bridge, something that Hogan only announced about 2 years ago.

That article is probably related to the Charles County members of the Tr-County Council hijacking the previous agreed to priority highway projects for Southern Maryland early last year.

The way it was done remains somewhat murky, the Calvert and St. Mary's members of the TCC claimed they didn't know about it, but the Johnson Bridge replacement was knocked totally out and replaced by light rail to Waldorf.

It was caught when it went to the County delegations for sign off and was denied. Some of the Charles County members are still saying it was approved.

Per your link...............

Advocates for the line say it would ideally be light rail, as multiple studies suggest a bus rapid transit alternative would reach full capacity as soon as it opened. Area planners have even begun setting the stage for transit-oriented development, much of it centered around downtown Waldorf and Brandywine Crossing, a Prince George’s shopping center that sits near the line with Charles County.

Southern Maryland planners know these things because SMRT has already been the subject of five different state studies over the past 25 years—first in 1996, and most recently in 2017. And yet, despite Southern Maryland’s intense congestion and extensive transit plans, SMRT falls low on the official list of Maryland’s transit priorities.

...........again old news , which has already been shot down , ......................and will again.
