Milkboy Arthouse had so much promise. I hope these people, if given the opportunity, can make something out of the space.
Crab and Turtle is an interesting name. The investors are an interesting mix as well. Perhaps they can redirect some of their DC customers to College Park. It sounds promising. But that space, that block, has got to have the highest turnover rate in the city.

Perhaps the new city hall across the street with university offices and the new student housing behind it can slow that rate down. In addition to the non-student housing at South Campus where those residents can walk a few blocks to those establishments.

This is where the Purple Line is essential to bring more development to the old east campus area as well as providing access to a wider customer base willing to travel on light rail to these establishments.

New Coffee Shop in College Park, inside of a bike shop.

https://www.hyattsvillewire.com/2020...s-soft-launch/

College Park’s Proteus Bicycles held a soft launch for its new in-house coffee shop beginning this week.
For now, Proteus Brews is offering curbside service only, with no cash transactions, but owner Laurie Lemieux told the Hyattsville Wire they are planning a grand opening with expanded hours and a broader menu in November.

College Park Marriott Approved https://www.hyattsvillewire.com/2020...iott-approved/

Prince George’s County has approved plans for a Marriott Residence Inn across from the College Park Metro station, at the intersection of Campus Drive and River Road, but it’s unclear when construction will begin.
The $45 million hotel would have 161 rooms and 6,800 square feet of retail on the ground floor, joining a recent boom in hotels along the Route 1 corridor.

Good news on a hotel within a 5 minute walk to a metro station. Still waiting for a hotel at PG Plaza. UTC had a great opportunity to build one. They missed it. 410 is a major thoroughfare. You have restaurants, mall, entertainment. If the mall owners were smart, they could have activated the empty parking lots in the back of the mall and made a hotel that connects to the mall. Super convenient.

They are now in bankruptcy. Not sure that is possible now.

Another look at the new coffee shop within Proteus Bicycles in College Park. https://dbknews.com/2020/11/16/colle...e-coffee-shop/

A Greenbelt resident of over 30 years, Lemieux is an avid supporter of local small businesses.

Proteus Brews sources from the Black-woman-owned Shortcake Bakery and Severna Park’s woman-owned Hawthorne Fine Breakfast Pastry. They also get their beans from Open Seas Coffee Roasters in the Stevensville-Kent Island area.

The sandwich shop next door is also very good and run by the same couple. They purchased the sandwich shop in Fall 2019 from the original owners and opened the BBQ joint next door soon after.

Still no Chick-fil-A in the Hyattsville/College Park/Greenbelt/Beltsville corridor. I wonder what's the hold up. The company must be making money hand over fist in Laurel. The Route I Laurel location just got a second drive thru. And the drive thru at the Route 198 location is always backed up with a long line of vehicles.

I believe it. OMG. We ate their BBQ when they were at the Riverdale Farmer's Market. First tried them when they did a pop-up at the meadery. They give huge portions and their food is delicious.

Federalist Pig is supposed to open an outpost in Hyattsville on RT. 1.
