Touting the Greenbelt location, UMD and UMB announced a new plan for an academy that would work with the FBI and foster innovation while providing the FBI with a quality talent pool. Would this be a good idea even if the FBI chooses Springfield? That remains to be seen. The first hurdle is to get the FBI in Greenbelt. Nevertheless, more schools and academies can't hurt no matter where they are located.

Quote:
University of Maryland officials, as well as leaders of the state of Maryland, are announcing plans Tuesday to create a new national security academy in Greenbelt. It would collaborate with the FBI in research and educational opportunities.

The Maryland Academy for Innovation in National Security hopes to "help foster continuous innovation at the world's preeminent intelligence-led law enforcement organization," according to a university memo. The announcement will also continue to advocate for Greenbelt as the potential landing spot for the FBI's new headquarters.
Quote:
The two schools plan to work with the FBI by using their expertise in subjects ranging from cybersecurity, law, foreign languages and medicine. The academy plans to offer educational opportunities that could include workshops, online classes and a Ph.D. program, according to the memo.
