Groundbreaking for The Artisan 4100. Opening in 2019.

Quote:
Developed by Landex Development, Artisan 4100 is designed to meet LEED Gold standards and will feature 84 market rate apartments, 4800 square feet of retail space and music studios. The building will offer advanced sustainable living options and will be powered by solar panels and offer electric charging stations as well as access to zip car and bike share.

The $29 million dollar project, along with its sister development, Studio 3807, is a visible sign of the commitment by local authorities as well as private investors in the growth of the area. Studio 3807 is slated to open in Spring, 2018 and will include 147 market rate apartments, 6300 square feet of retail space and 3000 square feet set aside for artist studios. The building will also house a gallery displaying a permanent collection of art purchased by Landex from Gateway Arts District artists.

Not fronting RT. 1. As long as there are open parcels along RT. 1, anything away from RT. 1 will get looked over. THat's my personal opinion. Rt. 1 still has a lot of development/redevelopment opportunities. That's where I think developers are putting their focus right now.

I just discovered this thread and find it interesting. I lived in Cottage City in 1980 while attending Maryland. Took a trip back there last summer and was absolutely blown away at how Hyattsville had improved. The old beat up marina along the Anacostia was now a beautiful park. But then I looked at my old neighborhood and sadly it had not changed one bit.

It really has changed over the last 7 years; let alone that last 35!
That stretch of Rt 1 is absolutely amazing. I love that there are still landmarks here and there, tho.
