I've always heard good things about the MD/DC area and want to start looking at relocation. But I'm not sure where to start. What is a good city to live in? Decent schools? I'm single, but hopefully not for life
, so good areas for possible networking, dating...diversity - everything. The good, the bad and ugly...
It's very important I make a good decision b/c I won't have any family near and I will be basically starting over.
I am college educated as well so I don't think finding a job should be a huge issue.

Be very careful regarding which school cluster you will be in if you look into MD. Montgomery county always brags about having a great district, but it's no longer the truth unless you live in the areas closer to DC. There is known gang activity. There is also severe overcrowding and the roads aren't being improved to accomodate the high levels of traffic, plus the county keeps letting builders just keep on building. Daycare is extremely expensive, so make sure you look into that also...even the not so great places charge an arm and a leg. Last year I paid $20,000 a year for 2 kids for all day.

There are a couple of things that will make a difference on where you might relocate to in Maryland. What is your carreer? What do you and your child like to do in your spare time? Are you more a city person or smaller town. Some people live in small towns and do their networking and meeting new folks through the schools, church, volunteering. There is such diversity in Maryland as far as places to live, community feel and cost.

We would need a lot more info to get started for you. What is your budget? Are you looking to rent or buy? How old is your child? Public or private schools? What do YOU like to do? What does your child like to do? Severna Park in AACO has excellent schools, tons to do, is an excellent networking place and has career sites galore but they're very pricey and you're not going to find an apartment complex with rentals in Severna Park.....
