What is the weather like at the very end of august? The almanac says the high should be 87, but is it really that hot? Like enough to make you uncomfortable? I don't like the heat, but if it was in the 70s I would be fine. Does anyone remember what it was like there last year at the end of august?

Like 80-90 highs, lows in the 70's, more rain though. Things start to cool down a lot more once September hits.

The end of August can be hot in the DC area, as hot as it is now. But it can also be a lot more comfortable.

If you don't like 80+ degree temps, I wouldn't come in August. Late September is generally much more comfortable (although I think we had a long Indian Summer last year until mid to late October!)

August is just as brutal as the rest of the summer. Some people I know think it's the worst month for heat extremes in DC area.. I'd have to say July is brutal, but Aug is a close second...

In terms of heat, August is the worst month. By that point the city's been baking for a few months. It's also hard to compare this summer to last summer. Last summer was fairly mild, whereas this one is just crazy.
