I moved to DC this fall for school and have really loved it so far. I'll need to find a new apartment this summer, though. I'm looking in the sub $2,000 range for a 1 bedroom, or possibly sub $1,700 for a studio. I'd like to stay in NW DC. Preferably Dupont, Foggy Bottom, Penn Quarter/Gallery Place, or anywhere west of the Rock Creek. I'd also consider Bethesda if it's near the metro in "downtown" Bethesda. Prefer to avoid Columbia Heights, Shaw, etc.
I've found a few places, but they're mostly in older buildings with very old appliances, etc. Are there any relatively new buildings that meet this criteria?
Try searching through the Apartment Showcase catalog and web site. It's free to order, and I usually find them at grocery store exits and the public library. They can definitely give you way more info on apartments than here.
2400 M (Georgetown)
Archstone Friendship Heights (OK, technically in Bethesda, but basically Friendship heights)
The Lexington (Penn Quarter)
Post Mass (Dupont Circle/borderstan)
Avalon at Gallery Place (chinatown)

Thanks for the suggestions!
There's some to be had in older buildings that have been rehabbed, which typically have better construction (you can't hear conversation/TVs through the wall). I sent you some listings via direct mail.
