Relocating to DC area for work. Husband's office will be near the Metro Center. I will work for home. We have decided that in order to be happy in DC we need to be as close to work as possible. So looking close in, our criteria is:
1) Easy access to metro
2) Easy walking to restaurants/shopping/parks
3) Reasonably comfortable homes for $1M or less
4) Relatively quiet neighborhood
5) Historic neighborhood
6) Relatively safe (I understand you need to be street wise when living in the city but also don't want to worry about constant muggings/burglaries/etc.)
One of the areas that seems to fit the bill is Stanton Park. Would appreciate other's feedback on this and whether you think the neighborhood meets our criteria.
Stanton Park should fit that set of criteria well. My son live a few blocks east of there. Home prices will be fairly high depending upon the size of the place and quality of renovation. Union Station and Eastern Market are both walking distance.
