Especially to 14th, Bluefly and KB and terrence81 (but not to the hoodrat-hating Marine),
I have been very, very rude here. I have vented my frustration with the low pay of my career as a community organizer on DC, unfairly. That was very selfish of me. The truth is, I was envious of the quality of life I saw around me that I could never attain.
Thank you, stars (you'll always be stars to me). That was big of you. Getting priced out of most of the region is a constant concern for many of us. I think people expect it in places like NY and SF, but metro DC kind of came on quickly over the past 30 years or so as a major player and anytime things change quickly there's going to be a lot of fear and confusion over it and pining for the way things were.
Please don't let this dissuade you from posting obnoxious cat pictures.
No need to apologize to me, but that was a class post. Finding a way to constructively voice one's frustrations and resentments can be very challenging, and an online message board somewhat lends itself to visceral reactions that one might not express via other means. Which is to say: no worries.

LOL. You just validated everything I thought of you (and many on here) You are a HAVE NOT and are pissed that the rest of the city is thriving while you are not. Change your crappy victimhood mentality and maybe things will change for you too. I won't hold my breath though...

Holy crap! You are such a liberal!! I bet you would be the one to actually hug the guy who mugged or robbed you too. After all, he is just a victim of circumstance....SMH....

The more you know. Brought to you by jmusmc85.
Since this is a thread of forgiveness, I'm not going to "go there"....
Thank you to everyone else who responded (except for the 2 posters with anger management issues).

Maybe you're not old enough to know this, but DC went from being a very cheap city to a very expensive city almost overnight. I'm not sure playing the victim card is your best angle on this one. For as great as DC's become in many regards, it's also become a tough city in which to make ends meet, especially with a family. That's not victimization. That's just reality.
