Here is the deal, My girl and I live on the DC/MoCo border. I have a job in shady grove, and my gf has a job in foggy bottom, we both metro/bus so we are hoping for a more walkable area over burbs. We are trying to find a middle point between FB and SG for a 1 bdrm, between $1500-1700. So if you could give us neighborhoods or metro stations to look around or specific apartment buildings that would be great. We would consider Silver Spring but it seems like the commute to SG would be awful, unless someone knows of a bus that goes from SS station to Rockville or SG both have a bus I take to work from there.

I'd take a look at the areas near the Cleveland Park and Woodley Park metro stations. There are lots of apartment complexes off of Connecticut in those neighborhoods, many of which are older and might be a bit cheaper than the newer buildings. It'd also be a straight shot on the Red line for you, and depending on where your girlfriend works in Foggy Bottom, she could probably walk to work from Farragut North.
