This has nothing to do with the proposed plans for Anacostia or Congress Heights but I am currently in contract for a condo on Eaton Rd SE and wanted to know what people who actually lived in Anacostia felt about the area. I have went both in the daytime and at night and I did not feel unsafe. I took my father there this weekend and he absolutely hated the area and has serious concerns about my safety when I move in. I thought this would be a good place to get people's ideas on the area, walking to and from the metro, etc. I tried to stress that the area is changing but my father was not here for it. I work on Capital Hill and was planning to walk to the metro, etc for my commute but now I am thinking of driving. Valid advice and opinions are welcomed.

Anacostia isn't that bad. A ton of people are moving there. You will be fine.

Thanks MDAllstar for having something constructive to say unlike some other poster. I have been living in District Heights, MD with my aunt to save up for a place and while it does have some crime I don't feel less safe as I did when I lived in Alexandria or Falls Church.
