It's best if the rich countries get to do it. We have seen the effects of letting developing countries the Olympics. It is unfair to make the poorer countries handle the economic burden of the Olympics when the rich countries can handle it much better
Only because the IOC wants them to be. If the IOC decided to go with a financially smart option instead of a huge spending option, they wouldn't be a money loser

They already have volleyball courts in that section down by the Lincoln Memorial, could go there. I also forgot about College Park.
Yes, but those volleyball courts are very cut off because of the roads around them. Plus I'm not sure if there is enough room there to construct stands
I think as people get more and more angry with the money losing Olympics, the IOC will start becoming financially smart
There are a lot of influential people who think the "prestige" is worth the price. I see no sign that the IOC will start putting constraints on host country financial commitments. The IOC wants a big event. They don't care if the host country loses it's shirt. DC should be smart enough to not fall for the hype.

The only countries that are okay throwing all that money are 1st world countries who feel like they are losing relevance, or 2nd world countries who want to feel relevant. Neither of those types of countries do the IOC really want to host such a worldly event. They want a country who is relevant. As the relevant countries start to look down on the expensive Olympics, the IOC will change it's mind. The IOC wants the US to bid this time around, and they know that the US won't spend ridiculous amounts of money. Maybe they are already having a change in heart

Could the Nationals have away games for two weeks in case the games needed to utilize Nats Park?
Sure, they do at times anyways.
