We are looking at hospitals in DC for having a baby. Dear Husband prefers for baby to be born in DC (We were each born in DC.). We are thinking about Sibley, GW, Georgetown. However, we are not far from Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. I (mom) am older, so we need to make sure we have a good place that cares for moms well too. I like the extra special care that comes with a team that includes midwives, but we want great conventional doctors.

There is also a forum section in the DCUrbanMoms.com website with lots of discussions of midwife delivery. The posts are very recent. I suggest searching it for pros-and-cons about each hospital.

VA Hospital Center was great for my family. I know many people who have gone out of their way to go to INOVA Fairfax though. Supposedly, great facilities there. Hope that helps!
My granddaughter was born a Sibley. They provide good customer service. Normal deliveries aren't medically complex. Go where the people make you feel comfortable.
If you still have time, try visiting the hospitals and talk to the doctors. Whoever makes you feel the most comfortable should be one in my opinion. Heard GW has great reputations on both midwives and conventional docs but very difficult to get in. Congrats and good luck.
