There are multiple sites in NoVa. When you say, it is going to NoVa, where? Loudoun County? Crystal City? Alexandria? Fairfax? Arlington? Leesburg?
If they go to Nova, it's going to be crystal city. They would be close to the airport, metro, and DC itself. However, I just think that why would they go for a place with zero name recognition?

Lets think about this, which is going to actually benefit the company most? Cost of doing business will most definitely be lower in Virginia, AWS already doing major expansions out there, and Dulles Airport two metro stops from proposed HQ2 site. I believe the Silver Line corridor officially becomes "Silicon Valley of the East" if it's chosen.
DC though does have the urban qualities and amenities that many of the company's employees will seek, and NO city, and I truly mean NO city on this list would be more influential to Jeff Bezos' trillion dollar value company more by expanding their dominance globally on the highest scale possible than Washington D.C..
I think HQ2 or no, we will absolutely see a large influx of Amazon based jobs expanded across the region. Bezos is playing chess not checkers.
They've gotta be coming to DC, no. If so, this is a game changer.
They are also members of the chamber of commerce in other cities. They joined the one in DC for around $2200 for companies with 100-200 employees. They are also members of the Austin Chamber of commerce, for example.
If you recall, Amazon purchased Whole Foods. That would give it 100-200+ employees in DC.
Personally, I wouldn't read too much into it.
For me, Bezos buying the Washington Post and purchasing the huge historic home in DC was enough for me. I still think DC has an edge over MD and VA though.
There may be a certain cachet with having a major presence in one of the most powerful cities in the world.
I hope we'll be hearing from Amazon soon regarding HQ2. My current thought is that DC, Maryland, and Virginia get to share in HQ2.
I think they said they'll be announcing the winner by the end of the year.
