We are coming for spring break and may be staying at Pohick Bay (they have cabins). Are there any other ways to get into D.C. from that area other than bringing the car? If it's better to bring the car, what should we do with it during the day? We are coming for four days. Thanks!

You definitely need a car. Pohick Bay is not served by any public transit. I'm pretty sure they have parking for people camping there though.

To get to DC, drive up Route 95 to Springfield Metro station or up Route 1 to Huntington Metro station. Park your car there and ride the train in.

I think Springfield Metro parking fills up pretty early (someone else can fill in the exact time), so if you're getting a late start, go to Huntington.

Most metrorail station parking lots fill up very early in the mornings, Tues. thru Thurs. and a little less so on Mon and Fri. On weekends there is plenty of space. Virginia Railway Express (VRE) also has rush-hour commuter trains from Fredericksburg that stop in Woodbridge.
