I am planning our trip for this Summer and I think one of our overnight stops will be near DC. I would like some suggestion for a clean and safe hotel for the night either right before or after DC. We will be coming up on 95 so would need something close to the highway. I would really like to stay $150.00. Thanks for all your suggestions!

You can get good deals on the weekeneds in DC. Most people are there on business during the week so hotels need the business on weekends. If you are looking to stay in DC, I can only recommend where I have stayed~ The Mandarin Oriental! It's the best! Great rooms, views, food! Close to the National Mall! Love staying there and I try to go every year!
As far as outside of DC, I have stayed in Alexandria at the Westin and it was very nice, close to the metro line and would stay there again, but I don't remember how close to 95 it was!
Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the reply DVCGAL, but we just need a room for a quick overnight stay during our car trip (checking in late and checking out early), and both places are either too far off the highway and/or too expensive. We're looking for something like a Comfort Inn or Hampton Inn which is safe and clean.
