I am hoping to be moving to the area soon and I am curious as to what the daily feel of the place is like. I will be on some land and plan to have horses. What is riding like out there? How are the trails? Is there riding on the beach?

From a lot of other posts I see that Aberdeen tends not to be an all time favorite. How hard will it be to become part of the community? Do you feel that people will make you welcome or do you have to really show you have no desire to turn them into something their not?

Is there a farmer's market nearby? If I set up a roadside stand next to my driveway with fresh fruit/ berries/ veggies how likely are people to stop? Is there a good crafting community (sewing, quilting, knitting, etc...)? Antique/ flea markets in the area?

I know the weather is gray but I've learned that too much sun can be just as bad. How often is the weather to bad to go out and work? Walk the beach? What's your best month for good weather? What's your worst?

I know I will be getting to know this myself eventually, but any info would be great.

So 64 hits and no replies?, not even a "I don't know but I think you'll like it here"

Is this due to:

A. No one reading this post is from the area?

B. They are from the area but do not know any of the answers?

C. I have my answer to the "How hard will it be to become part of the community?" Oh well... I grew up small mining town, so I can handle it.

Horse owners out there along the 105 between Aberdeen and Westport? I love trail riding and would like to know if there is an abundance of trails and if riding on the beach is allowed. I've been looking online but unfortunatly, not a lot of info out there.

Put in "aberdeen" on this forums search bar, you'll get a lot of info, people have posted here many times on this area but you have to do the search.

Thank you for your reply jetheber. I did check in the search and found a few posts on horses so I do know that I can ride on the beach in Ocean Shores and in Westport and Grayland.

I was hoping to get more information on inland trails also nearby and any horse related groups and/or activities. I like to get involved and was hoping to see what was available.

I don't think there are a lot of people living between Aberdeen and Westport, and fewer that are on the forum.

I visited Westport a few weeks ago. Going through Aberdeen, it was sad to see the vacant buildings in downtown, while there are new big box stores constructed just down the highway. But I can't share a comment about horses or being accepted into the community. Most people I know from there left because they found the area too depressing. I ight guess that those that stayed are happy there, if, apparently, a bit quiet.

Probably not for much longer.

The beach horses are the main suspects in the outrageously high bacteria count in the water at the beach at Ocean Shores.

If it were not for the tourist value, and the local prominence of the owners of the two horse rental ranches, horses would probably have been banned from the beach years ago.

The beaches here are for people.

And cars, trucks, motorcycles, and RVs.
