Liberal and safe neighborhood? You're looking at the right place. It has all what you're looking for, and a top rated school district as well. I believe their Farmer Market is seasonal, but it's definitely awesome.

Lacey will have all the shopping you'll need.

Someone had posted pictures of the Olympia in the photo thread, check it out!

You've picked the right town! Olympia is both liberal and safe. This year was the third time Olympia has been raked by Farmers Insurance as the safest mid-sized city in the US.
If you stroll through town it will quickly become apparent to you that interracial couples, or same sex couples do not have anything to fear.
Today is the last day of the Olympia Farmer's Market. It will open up again in April. There are lots of outdoor, as well as art venues in the Olympia area. You'll love it here.

I'd say most of Olympia is liberal and safe. A couple of neighborhoods that come to mind are the West side, and South Capitol.

Does that mean that a person of moderate or conservative political leanings would be unhappy in Olympia?

Not at all. You might be a little unhappy hanging out on the campus of the Evergreen State College in Olympia, but Olympia is large enough that it tolerates a variety of viewpoints.

You are going to like Olympia... The Capitol Campus area surrounding Lincoln Elementary would probably work for you. Lincoln Options Elementary: Lincoln Elementary School (Really cool, liberal elementary school--maybe for your kid a few years down the road?) You might also look at the Holiday Hills neighborhood and Carlyon neighborhoods in SE Olympia within the 98501 zip code. There are lots of other good areas to look into, but these are the ones I am most familiar with. Good luck!

Why are we still labeling ourselves, as was designed by the powers that be, Dems and Republican Politicians, so as to keep the average Joe and Josephine at odds with one another? Take your corners and come out arguing-what a ruse! It is politicians at the behest of the college educated that destroy the world's people and their natural environments because they create and manage the companies and the governments that destroy the world one community at a time.
Labeling colleges, whether self labeled or otherwise also contributes to polarization. A case in point is Evergreen: There are some very fiscally conservative professors there who are seeking to find balance rather than winning an argument to promote an agenda that excludes humans as part of the species of livingkind. The right solutions only occur when the true problem is discovered and admitted to. A wonderful example of a self proclaimed liberal exampling a tremendous feat of vanity while living the hypocritical lifestyle is the Governor of Oregon's girlfriend. She wears leather jackets from the hides of dead animals and lines her eyes with cosmetics while professing to be the original nature girl. An hysterical example of blatant egotism can be found on Utube where she is video taping herself with equipment from China. Yet how many people will applaud this message from a woman who sleeps with old men to gain government contracts and the eventual power and wealth she aspires to? How many people will applaud this garbage because it gets them off the hook for really having to look at their own mindset and actions? This same nature girl refuses to be seen in the Gov's pick up truck now that he is Gov, so she demands a Prius be shipped from a foreign country. How many self proclaimed environmentalists applauded this act without thoroughly thinking through the carbon footprint involved? This is an example of the type of vanity and inconsistency that wants to write public agenda and is upheld by those who cannot think an action through to it's end before deeming it applause worthy. A true nature girl isn't smearing her face with chemicals, no matter how naturally applied or is demanding her boyfriend purchase another vehicle that has to be shipped thousands of miles, harming the earth further whenva vehicle is already available. If this is what liberalism represents then liberalism is a part of the problem and not a part of the solution. Vanity never solves problems, it just demands that you pay homage to it's ego while relinquishing your common sense, thus further feeding it's insatiable thirst for attention. Be yourself, quit labeling yourself and others. Learn to communicate without anger and to live without hypocrisy which means that if you wear leather quit calling other's murderers of nature. If you buy one thing made in China or for that matter anyplace more than a day's walk or week long horse drawn wagon from your front door quit calling other's polluters. If you live in a building you use raw materials. If you eat food you grew without the aid of a public water system then you might be using less resources but where is your clothing coming from? We are a global world-let's quit labeling ourselves into corners of hatred and applauding silly acts of hypocrisy as meaningful to our lives. The solution lies in going further than patting ourselves on the back for thinking good thoughts. The solution to the hatred, bigotry, vanity and self anointed genius status so many confer upon themselves is that we all start truly valuing each other and showing it with loving gestures, especially respect for the lay person who is subjugated by the educated. We need to stop giving politicians idol status and the same goes for college educated folks. It is politicians at the behest of the college educated that destroy the world because they run the companies and the governments that destroy the world one community at a time. The 'average citizen' has the common sense to restore the balance that is skewed by educated idiots who create policies to favor their financial contributors. Listen to those who do not have the heart mind or evil capacity to destroy others for their own gain - listen to the average person throughout the world and you will find the solutions. Quit believing they are idiots as the media is instructed to portray them to be. Quit believing anyone but a liberal will be nice to you because you are gay or a bi-racial couple. Our friends in Texas, deep in Methodist country, have been a bi-racial married couple for twenty five years and have never once been isolated, threatened or harmed. Their children are bi-racial and their daughter recently married a 'white boy' without anyone throwing a hissy. Hysteria comes from lack of trust more than real life experience. 'Blue collar laborers' are often treated as inferior by college educated people. Who votes for policies that tear blue collar laborers and their family support systems apart and their ability to earn an income based on bad information and hysteria? Who closes down a lumber mill, destroying families who have to be separated as they splinter off to find employment in other parts of the country? Who cares if grandparents and grandchildren are separated under these circumstances- certainly not the educated idiot who votes to close down a lumber mill rather than vote to pay for pollution controls so it can stay open. Gay people, bi racial couples, non white folks, they are not the only ones discriminated against - 75 percent of the people in our country are discriminated against by the 25 percent who think they are somehow superior because they went to school for four years and received a degree that allows them to earn twice as much as a laborer for the rest of their lives, especially if they become a government employee. College is not that hard, especially when mommy and daddy foot the bill and feed your face unlike those who actually work their way through it. A college education means you can pass test and that's about it. Statistically it has been the college educated in this country who destroy the lives of others and then try to make up for it with donating to causes after the fact. How about we quit destroying people's lives and instead collectively give them a leg up through common sense policy created by common sense people- the ordinary person who is an independent thinker and not a child brainwashed by a college professor who is more than likely just another person who proves they can pass a test?

One thing a college professor might have taught you is to tighten your arguments, whittle down your writng by 90%, make several paragraphs, and indent. As it is, your diatribe is practically unreadable.

Default Passion is beautiful

Oh no, hopefully you are going to be an asset to our community and not just another person from California who screwed up California State like a dog that pisses it's own bed and then wants to sleep elsewhere and is now moving to another state after helping to screw up California only to apply the same voting practices that destroyed California to your new home town. I enjoyed your response. Words like diatribe are used to describe a layperson's style of writing, the same as the words 'sex offender' is used by government to soften the true description which should be 'rapist'. But then again you are one of the self designated brilliant people so I am sure you are way smarter than 75 percent of the population on earth. Passion is not a diatribe. Oh and by the way, just asking for a liberal neighborhood in itself shows small mindedness towards what a person deems a non liberal human - again, labels used to alienate.
