Port Ludlow is a great little place but not much in the way of business there, and home prices are higher. Its sort of the retirement community for the wealthy.

Port Townsend is the place to be if you are looking for non track type housing.

Verizon is the dominant phone provider and has the best service, followed by AT&T.

Port Ludlow is a retirement community. There isn't much there.

Hope this helps.

I have lived in Port Townsend a long time. These are just my thoughts. If you are looking for work, well good luck. Most jobs here are in the medical profession and other jobs are seasonal. In the winter months, this town rolls up the carpet, which is pretty much what happens at 5 o'clock. There isn't a lot to do here, especially for kids. They have one skate park but if you are not into that, then I guess figure something out. There are outdoor activities in winter: skiing, hiking and same in the summer. We are a tourist trap city and things here are very expensive. Living here is expensive, as is shopping. The mall is in Silverdale and that is about 45 minutes away. You can go to Sequim, where you will find some big box stores which were recently built within the last 5 years...but Sequim is mostly retired people. About 20 mins past Sequim is Port Angeles. People go there to get the ferry to go to Victoria. The downtown part of Port Angeles is kinda pretty, but the rest of the city is kinda of a dump. It is old and you can see the reflection of it in the stores. That is about it for the Olympic Peninsula side. It is nice to visit this area, but like I said very expensive to live here. Rent is about $800 and homes start at about $275,000. You should check out the local newspaper, The Leader. You will get an idea of the area. There isn't a lot of crime as compared to BIG cities. This is after all Mayberry. But people tend to be trusting because they live in a small town and forget that others who come to visit here are not locals but from other areas...Good Luck
