Are there trails and hikes that would suit us older folk? I love the hiking but our knees and feet aren't in the best of condition. Where to start off? Some trails near Sequim or that area would be nice.

We have that problem, my wife's knees do fine except down hill. Have you done the Olympic Discovery Trail? Much of it is pretty flat, 6.4 miles paved. My parents do parts of it and are in their 80s with multiple health issues. I know of many good, flat trails in the Redmond/Sammamish/Issquah area if you get over this way.

The Sol Duc Falls/Lovers' Lane trails have only a 200ft. elevation gain.

There are many easier trails in the Sequim/PA area. Since you asked for something near Sequim, I'll chime in and suggest the trails meandering through Sequim Bay State Park. Beautiful forest and waterfront in the park. One of our favorites when we're in the mood to simply stroll along on an easy path.

We live near Sequim Bay State Park and I walk there often. Many times during the "off season" (winter months) I seem to have the whole park to myself.

Enjoy!

Thanks, everyone. We'll be checking these out as soon as we're out there. Maybe find a house near one, so we can walk there.

Get The Creaky Knees Guide Washington: The 100 Best Easy Hikes in the State: Seabury Blair: 9781570615825: Amazon.com: Books

Good book with easier hikes.

There are some easier hikes near Sequim. We like the Upper Dungeness River trail - Upper Dungeness River

Another good resource is the Washington Trails Association - nice if you also want to look further out.

Also, just around town there is Railroad Bridge Park, the Dungeness Spit and the campground & bluff path there, & Port Williams Beach, and the little piece of 3 Crabs that DNR purchased. Also Ediz Hook in PA.
