KIRO radio this morning briefly interrupted its regularly-scheduled praise of the Seahawks to report some political news. Flushed with the Socialist victories on the Seattle City Council, the same fun-loving sans-culottes who cost the state billions in property damage and police overtime during their annual May Day frolics and other spontaneous outbursts, are running a plethora of Marxist candidates to extend their battiness to the whole state via the Legislature.

Among the 'progressive' policies Seattleites hope to impose on the state are: rent controls (worked well for California---the highest housing costs in the Pacific Coast); a state-wide $15/hr. minimum wage (which should turn most of the rest of Washington towns into blighted areas); banning railroads from carrying oil (which will create fuel shortages and higher heating costs---everywhere but 'green' Seattle, that is).

Ironically, in spite of the fact that the Communist Party Platform calls for state control of the media, the Seattle media is effusive in its praise of these radicals and their other fruitcake policies.

But the bottom line, Seattle-area domination of state politics has already been disastrous across the board: diverting badly needed revenues into the city; imposing out-of-touch regulations and tax burdens to support their social engineering schemes; and now they evidently want to change the entire culture of Washington altogether.

We sane people need to openly make fun of these math and history hating idiots. These people are destructive clowns and we need to publicly ridicule and laugh at these fools as much as possible.

We definitely don't want any fools like Sawant getting into the state level of government, we need to be sure to vote against those people no matter what kinds of rosy promises they make! I'm very much a liberal but people like her are far off the deep end- they don't think about the consequences of their idealistic visions, and most do have dire consequences for our state.

When I read the election returns this morning I was surprised to see how many state house leading vote-getters were Republicans. As for the socialists, if you follow the city council votes, they are almost always 6-1 or 8-1 depending on how many showed up. Sawant is not making any kind of impact.

I understand what you mean: I wouldn't call myself a 'liberal' by I'm not by any means Tea Party/Neocon material either. Sawant and others like her aren't liberal or conservative; they're revolutionists. They don't want reform like the mainstream political people want---they want to replace the system with something entirely different.

Right after Sawant got elected, she made a speech saying that one of her future goals would be to city take over and collectivize Boeing and put them to work building public transportation. The frightening thing is that the Seattle media (and many Seattleites) think this makes perfect sense.

Can we 1) not call people who disagree with us names, and 2) not equate/confuse communism and socialism?

Thank you.

I know!!!
As someone who was raised in Europe, I can tell you that communists and socialists not only have differing viewpoints, they basically can't stand each other!
So confusing socialism with communism is really, really weird...
