Default Living in Everett and drive to Mount vernon

I am considering an job offer in Mt. Vernon and wife is likely to get a job Seattle. For commuting suitability, I am considering Everett as an option. Everett to Seattle public transport although not very good but suitable.

That leaves me an option of commuting daily from Everett to Mt vernon. Can somebody comment of this commute since it is likely to be opposite of traffic flow.

If you're job location is within walking distance of downtown Mt. Vernon, there is a new express bus that started last summer that expresses between Everett and Mt. Vernon run by Skagit Transit. It is scheduled in both directions during both rush hours. It has the big over-the-road-type coaches that have high back seats and overhead storage compartments.

Skagit Transit - 90X Everett Express

Thanks for the useful information. However my job will be about 10 miles from downtown so bus is not suitable so I have to commute from Everett to Mount vernon daily.

Does anybody has experience on this commute excluding special reasons for delay?

Everett to Mount Vernon won't be too bad. There shouldn't be too much stop and go. Make sure you do your research on Everett neighborhoods though. Good luck.

I agree, I would think that the congestion will be none-at-all to very minimal going in the reverse-commute direction.

Thanks for encouraging words about commute. I am also looking for good rating highschools.

Unfortunately we I look at high school rating on GreatSchools.net for schools around Everett, the school ratings are not very great.

That leaves us a choice to move down in south direction to places like Mukilteo which has better rated schools. Understand that cost of living particularly housing will be high in Mukilteo but we plan to rent initially for some time before jumping to buying before settling.

Can you please comment on living within Mukilteo school district? The quality of high-school education can take precedence for deciding place where we will live.
