My husband and I have been living in Nevada for three years and have decided that it is time for us to move on. My husband is wanting to move to Alaska and I'm not ready yet so we made a compromise and are looking at moving to Bellingham Washington in the spring. Our youngest child moved out this year and we are looking for an area that is more laid back and provides some quiet. We are looking to rent not buy and we are looking to pay no more in rent than $1,000 to $1,500 a month. We are not looking to rent an apartment as we have two dogs who need space to run.
Any information regarding Bellingham or the surrounding towns would be greatly appreciated in helping us plan our move.
Thank you for your time.

Craigslist shows eight houses for rent that will take dogs for $1,500 or under, all in Bellingham's outskirts or beyond. Not all have fenced yards. Jumping up to $2,000 more than doubles the choices. There are some also in the Mt. Vernon/Burlington/Sedro Wooley area.

Mt. Vernon would be more affordable and also seems more like a small town in Alaska.

We've lived in Burlingon, WA, before and it's a good place, too. Quick access to the North Cascades Highway heading to the east. Small town with a mall right off of I-5 called the Cascade Mall.
