Any idea if I semi can make it along SR 14, between Vancouver and hood river, without crossing over to i84 at cascade locks?

I know there are tunnels in the area but can't find info on their heights.

I was buying commercially harvested salmon on the Columbia last year and plenty of semi's on the road.
84 is a lot easier to navigate but the drivers preferred 14.

Plenty of semis travel SR 14.

I'd call the road departments or sheriffs departments in Skamania and Klickitat Counties. The tunnels are marked with their heights, but I can't remember.

Could probably read the heights of the tunnels from Google street view.

WA DOT shows 13ft (13-6 trailer, better take the center / cross the center line). Witnessed an ugly crash of an over height log truck that dumped it's load on a convertible Chrysler (first tunnel on the east end).

I have taken semi trailers through that route many times. (sometimes several times / day).

There are many reasons that trucks take SR 14 instead of I-84. The 2 Port of Entries in OR between HR and Troutdale is a pretty good reason if you don't have OR authority / GTM or an IFTA card. Getting an 'Out-of-service' ticket is not good for revenue / meeting delivery commitments. (DOT checks are common at Cascade Locks Weigh Station). A $1000 ticket for a trivial compliance issue can really ruin your earnings for a week or so.

Paying / filing 'qtrly' fuel and mileage to OR is not worth the hassle if you don't need to cross over to I-84.

Paying 'By-The-Axle' is a spendy way to cross Bridge of the Gods. Need to drive to 'The Dallas' or Biggs Jct for a free crossing.
