I've decided to give up the van life, so was casting about regarding low income senior housing. Didn't invest (at all or wisely) so at the mercy of low income subsidized housing

Got some here in Vancouver, but have to wait till SS starts flowing. I was going to apply in Yakima, but danged if they won't let me till I AM 62! (It's only 45 days away!)

But Vancouver is starting to be overrun and thought I'd look elsewhere. I'm staying at the safe park (138th ave transit park and ride) they put up a huge apartment complex 500 yards away and another huge one is being started across the street.

I've looked at Yakima, Tri-Cities and Wenatchee. Any other suggestions?

HUD Project-Based Subsidized Programs
(Section 8, PRAC, 202, 811 etc)

HUD Tenant-Based Housing Choice Voucher Program
(Section 8 voucher program through local Housing Authorities)

USDA Rural Housing and Rental Assistance Program

Washington State Housing Tax Credit and Bond Programs

Other Low-Income Housing Programs
HUD Project-Based Subsidized Programs andUSDA Rural Housing and Rental Assistance Program do not require that you have a Section 8 voucher (the voucher is attached to the unit). You pay 30% of gross adjusted income (medical expenses are deductible).

These are mostly privately owned - you don't have to go through a "housing authority". Each project has their own application process and waiting list. Apply to any that you are interested in. In most cases, you can qualify for a subsidy for a one-bedroom apartment, while a regular Section 8 voucher might only pay for a studio.
