Hi
Just needed some information about realtors/real estate agents who can help me find an apartment or home for rent in tacoma. Anyone who knows somebody who is good? Is it a good idea to involve them as I am completely new to the area?
Please advise
Thanks

For the most part, Realtors aren't involved in rentals as far as the contracts go. It wouldn't be a bad idea to contact one to see if they know of any rentals that may be available (many of us have homes for sale that our sellers would love to get renters in, though they're not "for rent.").
In terms of trying to hire an agent, I'd say no...you can get some good info from City-data on this forum and make a pretty educated decision on your own.

Ok. I am actually going to tacoma early next month and thought that maybe realtors would be able to find a few rental homes and apartments and that would save me some time. Thanks for the info.

What you need to do is find a property management company and they can help you with finding a rental home. Some of the major real estate companies also have property management divisions, so you could ask to see if that's something they offer.

Wendy's advice is good, and I'd look on Craigslist.com. You'll find a lot there. Get some possibilities and then run the areas by this forum. You'll get good info.
