Hi, We are spending some time in Washington at the end of June, and are taking a little road trip. We're going to be in Port Townsend for a day, and on Whidbey Island for a day (Langley). Both look like wonderful places, and I'm not sure what to do there with our limited time. Are there some activities/sites in either of these locations that we don't want to miss? Thanks!

Here are a few photos I took of downtown Port Townsend last fall. It has some great old Victorian era buildings to look at.

and some old Victorian homes

Also, right next to Port Townsend is Ft Worden State Park. It is a nice park with lots of old military buildings on it. The movie An Officer and a Gentleman was filmed there.

I don't have any photos of Whidbey Island but one of my favorite places to visit is Fort Ebey State Park. It has some nice trails and bluffs overlooking the Puget Sound.

I haven't been to Langley for several years, so I'm not sure what is still there, but there use to be a great Native American art gallery and a great sorbet shop.

In Port Townsend I would go to Fort Warden, Manressa Castle and The Rose Theater. Be sure to leave some time to visit the shops and galleries and old buildings on Water Street. One weekend we spent two nights at the Belmont Hotel, which was built in 1885. There are only a few rooms and you enter from the outside up a long flight of stairs. No TV, phone or anything so you feel like you've literally stepped back in time.
