We are planning on moving to Olympia as soon as our house closes here in VT. Hopefully in the next couple of months. At this point, we are very disorganized in the whole move thing since we don't want to buy a house until we know the area better but finding a rental for 3 kids and a dog in a good school will be a challenge. The only thing I can say about places to hit in Olympia at this point are a restaurant called Cicada which was excellent. Good luck with your move.

A great source for fully furnished rental homes in the Capitol Campus area (walking to downtown and Olympia schools) is www.olympiafurnishedhomes.com. I have had several clients stay there while they were looking for homes. This way they could keep their household goods in storage and didn't have to move-in twice.
I hope this helps.

Where are you in Vermont? My husband and I are hoping to get positive news this week about a job in Olympia. We currently live in Spokane, but hail from New England (I was born in Vermont and grew up in NH). We moved to Spokane three years ago and we really love Washington state.

This thread has been really helpful so far as we've had our daughter in private school in Spokane for three years and if this move works out we hope to find good public schools in Olympia (my husband has worked in independent schools and is hoping to make the move to college so no more reduced tuition for us!). Good luck with the house sale and move!

googie-
we live about 45 minutes south of Burlington and have lived here for 10 years. We just need more to do and Olympia seems to have it.
