We all most to seem to be in a nice warm spell with well above average temperatures... I just hope that alot of trees dont start sprouting out, flowers, etc only to have a rude awakening!

We already have some of the early flowers coming up here in northeast Tennessee (tulips, lillies, etc). Sometimes they are OK but some other stuff has came out a little early only to be bitten by old man winters last gasp.

I remember in the spring of 2007... we had a very warm March (highs in the 70s and even some 80s almost everyday) and by late March, many trees were leafed out, etc... then it happened... early April arctic blast came down and destroyed ALL and I mean ALL of the foliage... temperatures dropped to the upper teens and lower 20s for overnight lows for about 3 nights in a row doing more and more damage night after night! If I recall, this was the case for many areas in the southeast and mid-west.... even Alabama and Georgia had a great deal of foliage destroyed.

The trees were so ugly and it took them until the middle of summer to recover fully.... of course the later trees had not came out yet and were OK and sprouted out fully by mid-late April. We normally see foliage here and there in late Feb-mid March, but really see it popping out by early April and by late April we are in full foliage on all of the trees, but by then the major cold spells are gone and/or the leaves are hardy enough to withstand some cold.

Just hope anyone is not set up for that again.

Looks like tomorrow might be in the mid-50s. But generally the "warm spells" have been pretty scant this winter here in the northeast. So far Monday was the only day with temperatures about 20 F above average. The first two days of January were also warm, but that's about it. Today and tomorrow will be mild, but average to below average temperatures are expected to return this weekend.

Would love to see a repeat of April 2007.

We're in the "warm spell" a good thing as we had quite the stretch of below normal temps (not a little below normal, more than 20 degrees)! However, with the snow pack, all the water, warm temps come lots of fog!

I wonder if we'll pay the price for this warm up, as there is a new storm heading our way, no offense to the Ohio valley but I hope the low pressure drifts further south than north!

Yeah, January was bad here in the southeast as well... all but about 2 days (the first two I think, maybe a couple of more) in January were well below average (highs and lows) and even parts of early February, but these past few days, its flip flopped. If we can keep it for at least a month, we may be ok.

Sure am enjoying today though... its sunny and 72° here as a type this. Our record high (at the airport) is 70° and they are at 70° now, so we have already tied the record, but I bet even there it may go up another degree or two.

A week after getting their worst winter storm ever, it is now 90 in Altus, Oklahoma. A week ago today, it was zero.

I suspected an error. When I went to the Weather Underground, it was showing current as 90 for Altus, but no other locations in Oklahoma higher than 83. Apparently an apparatus malfunction showing incorrect current temp.

April 2007 was horrible. More than a foot of snow on April 16 is irritating. I want to feel warm and see flowers, not snow. Though the skiing was nice.

Tomorrow is the last day of the warm spell here.

It's snowing here at the moment, as it did last night and this morning. Maybe our storms will head east and cool off the rest of you.
