This thread is similar to one I posted last year regarding been close to snow without getting any snow.
http://www.city-data.com/forum/weath...t-no-snow.html

Where about in the world has the coldest average winter temps, but doesn't get snow. Where I live has a July average daily minimum temperature of 1.3C/34F, but despite this doesn't get snow.

Can anyone tell if anywhere gets colder average daily minimums, but doesn't get snow? I'm not interested in places that don't get enough precipitation for snow, Rather places that get the moisture and temps to allow snow.

P.S: By no snow, I mean less than once every 20 years or so.

Perhaps some high altitude location in the Andes.. Cusco, Peru maybe?

Cusco - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's pretty dry there in winter but it says they've had one snowfall in recorded history.

Interesting climate, thanks.

It is interesting where I would have to go to find a comparable climate to here in that regard. Very dry though, with only 5 mm over those 2 colder months, could snow more there with greater precipitation . Here would get about 300 mm over the comparable months.

Yup.. sometimes we need that warmth in a certain layer of atmosphere to create the moisture to fall as snow.

We get that no problem, and the temps for snow, just never both at the same time. I don't know if there are any others place quite like it.

By 'daily minimum' you mean lows or nightly temps right?

Well, these places do get down to around 1C at night, but they may have snow every year or two:

Picton NSW (I can guarantee you that it never snows here): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picton..._Wales#Climate

Now these places may get snow every 2 years or so, but it doesn't accumulate much (1C lows are too much, so it's impossible for snow to be as rare as in every 20 years):

Lithgow NSW:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithgo..._Wales#Climate

Ouse TAS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouse,_Tasmania#Climate

Bathurst NSW: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathur..._Wales#Climate

Cooma NSW: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooma,..._Wales#Climate
