Java's earlier sunrise as well, Jakarta's sunrise will be before 6 in few days

It sunset around 5:30 EST then it got dark with a massive wall of black! So weird!

Yeah, it gets dark fast when you cross the terminator from west to east. 600 mph will do that...lol.

My recent flight from Bandung to Pekanbaru was NW in July, so sunset and civil dusk period seemed to last longer + the ascending plane as well

It's because the lower part of the atmosphere is in shadow while the upper part is still lit by the sun. Haze generally makes it more visible.

Yeah honestly it went from daylight an hour from sunset to pitch dark in 30 minutes. Odd!

As i posted earlier subtract (sqrt(alt in ft))/52.2 degrees

36,000 means sqrt(36000)/52 = 189.7/52.2 = 3.63° so sunrise/set sun angle for 36k ft is around -4.46°
