Sutherland, Northern Cape - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Said to be one of South Africa's coldest towns.

I like the average low temperatures - much of South Africa I would find way too hot, and with no real Winters.

Quite a high town, minimums too low on a year round basis to give any better than a B.
There would be a solid 5-6 months of frosts here.
Maximums are pleasant though.
Rainfall at < 250mm is well and truly arid, not semi-arid as stated here.

B-. Cool minimums are the problem here (this town is actually colder than my city on average), but the very low rainfall and (presumably) high sunshine compensate.

Given the cool temps evotranspiration would be low, so it could well be merely semi-arid.

Looks pretty good, I'll give it a B. If the precip mins were in the winter instead, I would've given it a C since there would've been almost no chance of snowfall.

B

Too dry and presumably sunny, but temperatures are nice.

D+. Summer minimums are a bit low, but temps otherwise fine. Low rainfall is my main dislike for this climate.
