The weather has been going from hot to cold a lot lately. I heard you can get sick like that. How are you improving your immune system to protect against getting sick?

You generally don't get sick from changing weather. You get sick when you are exposed to other sick people. Wash your hands frequently (or use a hand sanitizer) and get a flu shot. If you get sick yourself, don't cough or sneeze at other people (duh), call in sick from work.

Vitamins, zinc, orange juice, etc. can help. Get plenty of sleep. Crack open the windows once in a while to let some fresh air in your home.

Whatever you do, don't walk around the house bare foot.

Well if you wear shoes, you're more likely to bring dirt and germs into your home. Not that I follow that anyway. I usually wear shoes right up until I go to bed.

I just wear socks or slippers to keep my feet warm. One of my aunts got Pneumonia when she was younger from being bare foot in a very cold house.

People dont get sick from weather. LOL People get sick from germs. Reason why more get sick in winter is because those who dont like the cold are couped up inside where germs thrive. Then its a snowball effect passing it on from one to the other. 7 Billion people now so its much easier to get sick.

My trick for not being sick for 5 yrs straight?

* Stay outside. Get immuned to the cold. Breath in fresh air not stale warm air
* OPC-3 antioxidants.
* Stay away from people or look away when they cough.
* WASH WASH WASH and do not touch your nose after you touch something in public or shake a hand!
* Keep a circulating fan on in the house 24/7 even at sub zero(germs hate circulation) I learned this from gardening, veggie plants arent healthy without a fan on them when they grow.

It does a play a role though.

When the weather changes, especially from hot to cold, your immune system weakens, thus making you more susceptible to germs and bacteria. Another factor is dry air.

In Sydney we are the least indoors in winter (as the temps are still mild), and yet we get the most sick in that season. Hm....

- Washing hands once as soon as i got home from work or shopping
- Avoiding buses by all means.

Just curious. All the threads you bump from 3-5 yrs ago, is that from doing a search for them specifically? Did you google it and it came up?

Just to update. Now 9 yrs and I only had a 24hr bug once.

Its germs that make you sick. Yes weather plays an indirect roll being that people are indoors more without proper ventilation, circulation, and indoor temp but cold, hot, or wind won't get you sick.

What about if it rains or snows and is in the 30s(F°) and you stay outside and get hypothermia and get sick. Would you say that was the weather's fault or simply that person not being prepared?
