Don't you get sufficient rainfall? I get 850 mm, usually less, and summers often go above 35c, but I rarely need to water the plants. I think you get more than that.
The grass here is only green from usually between May and September the grass cover is usually most lush in July with field mushrooms in shady spots and starts drying slowly from there. During exceptionally dry years such as 2006 the grass has stayed brownish until July.
Usually the grass is at it's most dead looking in March, not so this year though due to higher than average rains during the month. Watering pot plants at least a few times per week is pretty much essential here to keep them alive over summer.

Pretty sure JetsNHL lives in Winnipeg, kind of hard to get the plants out of the greenhouse there.

JetsNHL is in Winnipeg, it's much drier, annual precipitation is just over 500 mm (20 inches).
The grass here usually turns brown by late December or early January. I planted some grass seeds in mid November and they continued to grow until December! This winter the grass didn't really turn brown until around mid January due to the fact that it was relatively mild up until then. Right now most of the grass is especially brown due to the chilly March, except the new grass that was planted in fall. I guess new grass reacts more quickly to mild temperatures?
Now the rest of the grass should remain brown or at least brownish until late April, when the continuous warmth begins. Last year, despite the record warm March, we still didn't have green grass until the second week of April.
I've noticed though that the grass is green in spring, and then around late June it starts turning yellow and brown again due to the heat, and especially if there's a drought. Then around early or mid September. it turns green again an stays that way until winter.
Pretty much same as here.
Grass stays green until early to mid january, then gets green again about mid april.
Almost every summer grass will turn yellow and brown due to heat (and lack of rain too).
Then, like clockwork, every september it gets green again.
I have an inground sprinkler system which helps keep the grass greener but mid summer heat
still makes it tough to keep it green.
The good thing is I only need to mow the lawn from early may to early november,
mostly spring and fall, during summer it goes almost dormant.
I would hate to have to cut grass all year long.
The grass here stays green most of the year but goes brown brown for 2-3 months every summer and more if it's a dry spring/autumn. The grass has just started growing again and will need to be cut until about christmas. During winter, it needs to be cut about once every three weeks. Some of the more subtropical grasses, will grow 2-3 ft over winter.
It looks like North America is an anomaly compared to the rest of the world.
