someone from Chicago would be better to explain. In July it was very cool, probably in the mid 60s to mid 50s with a light breeze off of the lake and clear skies, beautiful....
July was one of the coolest on record, but mid 60's highs? Even by the lake? There were a few, but not many.

Here is Northerly Island's (on the lake) data from last July

July 2014 was a bad. Dream. I hope we don't repeat that again anytime soon....

Much prefer 2012.... Here was Northerly Island in July 2012

I'd give Chicago a B. I think the winter is too long and cold, but other than that it's very nice. I don't live in Chicago, but I live a couple of hours away and spend time there often.

February 2015 departs leaving a legacy of all-time record-tying cold and a lot of snow

by STEVE KAHN Today at 12AM

February, 2015 is over and has earned a prominent place in Chicago weather history.

Its average temperature of 14.6 degrees ties February 1875 as the city’s coldest February dating back to the start of the city’s weather records in late 1870. Buoyed by the 19.3 inch Super Bowl blizzard, the bulk of which fell on February 1, the month closed with 26.8 inches of snow the third heaviest for February, topped only by the 29.0 inches in 2011 and 27.8 inches in 1896.

It was the second snowiest February on record at Midway Airport. Observer Frank Wachowski reports 28.3 inches of snow there, second only to 2011’s 28.8 inches by one half-inch. Due to Midway’s more urban location in the city’s heat island, the month was considerably warmer logging an average temperature of 18.2, that sites 4th coldest February. The three colder Februarys at Midway were 1936 with 13.6 degrees, 1979 with 16.7 degrees and 1978 with 16.8 degrees.

Man that February of 1936 with a Mean of 13.6F (at a station in the middle of the UHI) must have been brutal!

Anyways, this was a DYNAMITE winter month.
